Client Requirement & Operating Constraints

Gold recovery circuits rely on Fatboy and CIC vessels to load gold onto activated carbon from cyanide solutions, in continuous, highly corrosive service.

Strict defined criteria:

  • Fabrication to ASME Section VIII.
  • Internal screens that hold the carbon without clogging.
  • Cyanide-resistant internal lining.

Execution Phases

  1. Phase 01

    Vessel & Screen Design

Capacity set and internal screens designed for the flow rate.

  2. Phase 02

    Rolling & Welding

The shell rolled and welded to qualified procedures.

  3. Phase 03

    Screens & Nozzles

Wedge-wire screens and distribution nozzles fitted in precise alignment.

  4. Phase 04

    Lining & Testing

Internal lining and hydrostatic pressure testing.

Engineering Materials & Alloys Used

Certified, documented engineering

  • SA-516 Gr.70 carbon steel
  • 316 stainless wedge-wire screens
  • Rubber or epoxy lining
  • Forged ANSI flanges

ENGINEERING BOTTLENECKS

The Application’s Engineering Challenges

  • Carbon Loss Through Screens

Any opening too wide means losing gold-loaded carbon.

  • Chemical Corrosion

Cyanide and acid solutions attack unprotected steel.

ENGINEERED RESOLUTION

Innovative Engineering Solutions Applied

  • Precisely Slotted Screens

Wedge-wire screens slotted to the carbon particle size.

  • Fully Lined Wetted Surfaces

Every surface the solution touches is lined with a resistant material.
