What Should an Industrial Quote Request Include?

A clear quote request means a more accurate price in less time. A checklist of the information a fabricator needs to give you a comparable quote the first time.

What Should an Industrial Quote Request Include?

Why do request details matter?

When information is missing, the supplier has to assume specifications that may not suit you, add a safety margin to the price, or start long back-and-forth before pricing. A complete request saves time and makes comparing offers between suppliers fair.

The essentials

  • Engineering drawings or sketches in their latest revision.
  • Material type, grade and the required standard.
  • Quantities, and whether delivery is in one lot or in stages.
  • Allowed tolerances and finish and coating requirements.
  • Delivery location and required date.

Details that make a difference

  • Operating environment: temperature, chemicals, humidity and abrasion.
  • Required tests and certificates such as material certificates and weld tests.
  • Whether the request includes installation or installation supervision.
  • Any weight or size limits due to transport or the installation site.

If you don't have all the details

That's fine: send what you have with a description of how the part or equipment will be used, and our technical team will help you complete the right specifications before pricing.
