Client Requirement & Operating Constraints

A feed mill needed raw-material silos and automatic feeding and conveying systems linking the silos to the grinding and mixing lines.

Strict defined criteria:

  • Food-safe surfaces in contact with the feed.
  • Complete silo discharge with no material bridging.
  • Integration with the plant’s automation system.

Mega Steel Scope of Work (Execution Phases)

  1. Phase 01

    Silo & Outlet Design

Outlet angles designed for each material’s flow properties.

  2. Phase 02

    Silo Fabrication

Silo shells and conical hoppers fabricated from rolled plate.

  3. Phase 03

    Conveying & Feeding Systems

Screw conveyors, belts and rotary feeders fabricated.

  4. Phase 04

    Installation & Integration

Site installation with motors and sensors wired into the controls.

Engineering Materials & Alloys Used

Certified, documented engineering

  • 304 stainless steel for contact surfaces
  • Galvanized steel for silo shells
  • CNC-made screw conveyors
  • Low-friction UHMW liners

ENGINEERING BOTTLENECKS

The Project’s Complex Engineering Challenges

  • Material Bridging at Outlets

Some fine materials bridge and block the silo outlets.

  • Installing Without Stopping the Plant

The new systems had to tie into a line that was already running.

ENGINEERED RESOLUTION

Innovative Engineering Solutions Applied

  • Calculated Outlets with Liners

Steep outlet angles with low-friction liners and air pads.

  • Phased Tie-Ins

Tie-ins carried out during short weekly stops.
